Hello yesterday I took my son to see The Lego Batman Movie.
The story goes: There are big changes brewing in Gotham, but if Batman (Will Arnett) wants to save the city from the Joker’s (Zach Galifianakis) hostile takeover, he may have to drop the lone vigilante thing, try to work with others and maybe, just maybe, learn to lighten up. Maybe his superhero sidekick Robin (Michael Cera) and loyal butler Alfred (Ralph Fiennes) can show him a thing or two.
I’ve always been a big Batman fan and have seen The Lego Movie and Batman was the best thing about that movie, so a solo Lego Batman Movie was inevitable. Will Arnett is a great comedic actor and sounds like Batman so he’s the perfect choice for the movie. Zack Galifianakis is also a great comedic actor and is a good choice for The Joker. He hasn’t got the voice and laugh that Mark Hamill has but for this movie it works. Got to remember this is a family movie after all. There’s lots of famous voice overs in this movie from Channing Tatum as Superman and Jonah Hill as the Green Lantern. As a fan I got all the references to previous movies and liked those, like the parade with Prince playing reference, Batman 1989. I enjoyed the movie it’s an enjoyable, funny family movie which all the family will enjoy. There’s something for everyone in it. If you’re a fan or even if you’re not I think you’ll enjoy it and recommend you go see it.
Hello, I’ve been a fan of movies ever since I was a kid. I loved going to the cinema as a child and I still do now. It’s a good way to escape the world and visit different parts of the world, whether it’s somewhere in our world or a make believe place. The movies I grew up watching as a child in the 80’s and 90’s were great. There’s so many classics ranging from si-fi to action, adventure, comedy and horror. It’s hard to pick a top ten but these are mine.
1. Star Wars
3. Raiders Of The Lost Ark
4. Back To The Future
6. The Goonies
7. Jurassic Park
8. The Karate Kid
9. The Lost Boys
10. The Monster Squad
Star Wars: Star Wars is one of my all time favourite movies that I’ve loved from seeing it as a young child. I became a fan straight away and watched all the movies and had all the toys. When episode 7 came out, I was like a kid again going to see it I was so excited even more than my son and seeing it with him and watching him feel the same way about it as me was awesome. I’ll always be a fan even though the prequels were pretty bad.
Jaws: Jaws is a classic movie for me, I first saw it at a young age and remember seeing the great white shark fin in the water and that famous music playing and becoming obsessed with sharks from that moment on, especially great whites. There is so many iconic moments in the movie from the one I just described to the famous “We’re going to need a bigger boat.” The moment of the first shark attack which you don’t even see the shark building suspense to when you do. To the moment of Quint gets eaten alive are all great parts of a classic movie. It was the start of the big summer blockbusters and launched Stephen Spielberg’s career.
The top two are my favourites for the reasons above and the rest I could go on about for ages but I’ll cut it short a bit here. The Karate Kid is one of my favourites because I’m also a big fan of martial arts and was am a big fan of Bruce Lee. The Lost Boys was the first horror movie I ever watched and I loved it instantly. It got me into horror movies and vampires. The other movies are all classics and I’m sure there in most people top ten and there’s other films I watched growing up I love too, but these all stand the test of time for me and can still watch to this day.
Hello, yesterday I took my son to see the new Turtles movie TMNT: Out Of The Shadows.
We have the first movie on dvd and have seen it a few times now. I’ve been a fan of the Turtles for years I watched the original 80’s cartoon as a kid, read the comics and saw the original movies. It’s cool they’re still around and my son is now a fan too.
I thought the movie was good and enjoyed it more than the first one as it had it’s faults. The movie takes place after the Turtles defeated Shredder in the first movie and the Turtles are still living in the shadows hiding from the world. April O’neil played by Megan Fox is still a reporter and is investigating The Shredder. She learns of his plans with scientist Baxtor Stockman and his plans to escape from prison. That’s when we get introduced to Casey Jones played by Stephen Amell. He’s part of the transportation detail of The Shredder and becomes the hockey mask wearing, hockey stick wielding vigilante we all know and love. He plays a good part in the movie and would like to see a bit more of his back story in the next movie. We also get introduced to two other characters Bebop played by Gary Anthony and Rocksteady played by WWE superstar Sheamus. You could tell those two relished being in this movie and enjoyed there parts, they were one of the highlights in it for me.
The good: The scene where Shredder escapes and is chased by the Turtles is a great scene in the movie and fun to watch. The transformation of Bepop and Rocksteady with the help of the ooze and Baxtor Stockman is good too. The part where the Turtles end up in Brazil chasing after Bepop and Rocksteady leads to some great action set pieces and funny moments, yes they all end up in Brazil. Later in the movie we get introduced to The Krang an alien life form intent on invading earth leads to some good scenes.
The bad: The movie is a little silly and over the top at times but you’ve got to remember it is aimed at children and my son thought it was “AWESOME!” I just wished there was a little more story and actually gave Shredder something to do in the movie because he didn’t do a lot. Strange they changed the actor too. It’s also paced a little fast at times and similar to the first movie. It rushes to the end of the movie a bit where the final battle takes place again up high instead of a rooftop this time it’s on a spaceship which doesn’t last that long.
All in all its an ok movie and if your a fan of the Turtles I would recommend seeing it. Your kids will love it.
Hello, yesterday I went to see Captain America: Civil War the third movie in the Captain America franchise.
Marvel are ruling the superhero game at the moment and have had some huge hits including The Avengers and the surprise smash hit movie Guardians Of The Galaxy which I loved. I’m a big Iron Man fan so of course I’m team Iron Man. I always love the anti hero rebel type and identity more with them. Civil War was a really good movie the pace of the movie didn’t drag and they introduced new characters like Black Panther and Spider-Man really well, although it didn’t really reveal how Tony Stark knew that Peter Parker was Spider-Man but I liked the way he was introduced to the Marvel universe. The fights were really good and fun to watch. The story was good and this is how to do a superhero fight movie.
I saw Batman Vs Superman last month and although I don’t think it was as bad as the critics said, it could have been better. Ben Affleck was great as Batman you can’t fault his performance. It just could have had a better story and could have been directed a little better, although I did actually like it.
I’m looking forward to seeing what happens in future Marvel films especially Black Panther as I liked him in Civil War and it’s going to be interesting to see what they do with Spider-Man I just hope it’s not another origin story. I don’t think anyone can sit through another one.
If you haven’t seen it yet I recommend you go see it, it’s a great movie.
